Solar Panel Rebate plus the option of a interest free loan:
The Solar Homes Program provides a rebate of up to $1,400 towards the installation of solar panel (PV) systems, to eligible customers in Victoria.
This rebate is offered to Victorian's with:
- Existing homes.
- Homes under construction.
- Eligible Rental properties (contact KAW for more information).
Who can apply?
- A customer applying for the first time, who meets the eligibility criteria.
- A customer who's system is over ten years old, can apply to replace or upgrade their system.
- A customer who has previously received a rebate and moved to a house with either no system or a system older than ten years.

To further reduce installation costs, eligible Victorian's can apply for an interest-free loan for an amount equivalent to their rebate amount. The loan is required to be repaid over four years or can be repaid sooner in one lump sum.
Federal
The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) is an Australian Government initiative that encourages investment in small-scale renewable energy systems. It provides incentives to households and businesses for installing eligible systems like rooftop solar and solar batteries.

Effective July 1st, 2025, the Australian Government expanded the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) to include battery installations for households, businesses, and community facilities. This expansion is part of "The Cheaper Homes Batteries Program," designed to make solar battery storage more accessible.
Under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES), Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) are a payment made to purchasers of eligible systems, recognising the value of the emissions reductions they achieve.

When you purchase an eligible system from an accredited installer, the quoted price typically includes the STC discount.

Each year, the STC discount decreases until the scheme concludes in 2030.
